PURPOSE: A mask and a method are provided to reduce processing time and costs by eliminating a photo process and using a single mask for forming barrier ribs for a plurality of panels. CONSTITUTION: A mask(59) is formed of a plate which is made of a material endurable against pressures during a sand blast process, and attached to a rear substrate(51) of a plasma display panel. The mask has a plurality of openings for forming barrier ribs in correspondence to the cell area where a plurality of discharge cells are defined. The mask has an align mark formed around the edge outside of the cell area so as to achieve alignment with the rear substrate. A method for manufacturing a plasma display panel comprises a step of forming a plurality of address electrodes on a rear substrate; a step of forming a dielectric layer(55) on the rear substrate; a step of forming a paste layer(57) for barrier ribs on the dielectric layer; a step of aligning a mask on the paste layer by using an align mask; and a step of forming a plurality of barrier ribs in the direction parallel to the address electrode by grinding the paste through a sand blast process. |
