Nuclear reactor guide tube handling procedure involves using a grab with a control unit on one end and deployable arms on the other. The grab is inserted through holes in horizontal guide plates in the upper section of the guide tube and through one of the upper guide plates in the lower section before deploying its arms, allowing both sections to be lifted together. Nuclear reactor guide tube handling procedure, for a two-section guide tube (15) for upper interior equipment in a nuclear reactor under water in a pond, uses a grab (30) with a control unit (37) on one end and deployable arms (32) on the other. The grab is inserted through holes in horizontal guide plates (24) in the upper section (16) of the guide tube and through one of the upper guide plates (25A) in the lower section (17) before deploying its arms, allowing both sections to be lifted together.
