PURPOSE: An in-plane switching mode LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to remove an electric field between data lines and pixel electrodes, which distorts in-plane electric field. CONSTITUTION: An in-plane switching mode LCD includes the first and second substrates(120,130), a plurality of gate lines and data lines formed on the first substrate to define a plurality of pixels, and switching elements respectively disposed at the pixels. The in-plane switching mode LCD further includes the first and second electrodes(105a,105b,105c,107a,107b) arranged in each of the pixels of the first substrate to generate in-plane electric field, an overcoat layer(136) formed on the second substrate and made of a resin having a predetermined resistance and dielectric constant, and a liquid crystal layer(140) formed between the first and second substrates.
