PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying chain where a workpiece does not slip on the top surface of the chain even due to secular change, a bumpy motion is not generated on the sliding surface with the rail, the machining accuracy is maintained, and the quality of the workpiece does not deteriorate. SOLUTION: A rough hard layer 4 is formed with hard materials such as cemented carbide or ceramics by thermal spray so that small rugged spots are made on the upper surface of many links 3 consisting of the carrying chain 1. The hard layer is formed with the same kind of hard materials on the grooves 3c, 3c, 3d of the links 3. When it is used as the carrying chain of the conveyance mechanism such as a sizer or the like, the plate material does not slip, and the grooves of the back surface of the carrying chain carrying the plate material while sliding it on the rail, can maintain the accuracy for a long period of time without being worn.
