PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to simplify processing associated with the transfer of character information of equipment to be controlled to suppress the load, and appropriately display the character information regardless of the number of displayable characters of the display part of the equipment to be controlled. SOLUTION: In this system where the controll equipment 1 and 2 having display parts 13 and 23 are connected to the equipment 3 and 4 to be controlled through a bus 5, when the equipment 3 and 4 receive operation instructions, a plurality of character string data of the different number of characters corresponding to character information concerning the operation instructions are added with number of character data instructing the number of characters of the character string data, and transferred through the bus 5 to the control equipment 1 and 2. In the control equipment 1 and 2, the character string data corresponding to the maximum number of characters being the number of characters which is not more than the number of displayable characters at the display parts 13 and 23 are selected from the transferred data strings, and the selected character string is displayed on screens 13a and 23a of the display parts 13 and 23.
