PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress attaching of toner to adsorption roll and to prevent soiling of the surface of transfer material and unevenness in electrification even when the transfer material with the unfixed toner on it is brought into contact with the attracting roll. SOLUTION: Charge is imparted to the transfer material 7 passing in between a rotating roll 21 and the attracting roll 3 by applying bias voltage to the rotating roll 21 or the attracting roll 3 from a voltage applying means 4 and the transfer material 7 is electrostatically attracted to a transfer belt 1. Here, the attracting roll 3 and the transfer belt 1 are brought into contact, or the attracting roll 3 and the transfer belt 1 are not brought into contact and the space between them is made to be less than the thickness of the transfer material 7 and the surface of the attracting roll 3 is electrified to the same polarity as the electrified polarity of the toner by friction between the attracting roll 3 and the transfer belt 1 or the transfer material 7.
