PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element having high luminance, high efficiency and a long service life. SOLUTION: This organic electroluminescent element is provided with a luminescent layer between a pair of electrodes. The luminescent layer is characterized by containing a luminescent layer material, and a first dopant and a second dopant satisfying the following relationships: (A) EV0>EV1 and EV0>EV2; (B) EC0≥EC2; and (C) Eg0>Eg1, Eg2. EV0, EV1 and EV2 are valence electron levels of the luminescent layer material, the first dopant and the second dopant, respectively; EC0 and EC2 are conduction levels of the luminescent layer material and the second dopant, respectively; and Eg0, Eg1 and Eg2 are energy gaps of the luminescent layer material, the first dopant and the second dopant, respectively.
