Image generating light modulator (1) contains reflective, energisable, image generating region in image plane, while image region is lit by illumination optic (2). Light source (4) generates specified luminous surface for illumination of image generating region. Luminous surface has such aperture asymmetry that useful beam path contains, in specified shutter plane in projection optic (3), not rotation symmetrical cross-sectional form. In or near shutter plane is located fading shutter (12) of specified configuration with respect to optical axis (OA) etc. Independent claims are included for manufacturing method of invented projector.
