PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quenching detecting method and equipment of a superconductive coil wherein quick and high sensitivity quenching detection is enabled. SOLUTION: By using a Rogowskii coil 4, induced voltage V<SB>RC</SB>is detected by noncontact, and resistive voltage V<SB>r</SB>is obtained from the induced voltage. As a result, an intermediate terminal in the conventional difference method is unnecessary, application to a large-scale AC superconductive coil is also enabled. It is remarkably effective for preventing burning of a superconductive coil 12 that instant effective power P correlated with thermal stress to the superconductive coil 12 which stress is caused by quenching is used as parameter of generation of quenching. Further, by applying the instant effective power P to a low pass filter 9, a signal having high SN ratio is obtained. As a result, quenching is detected quickly with high sensitivity.
