PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide video signal recording/reproducing device and a video signal recording/reproducing method, by which a viewer can recognize easily time difference from the present recorded position to a reproduction position during chasing playback. SOLUTION: A time indicator of a reproduction position is expressed by the time difference from the present recording position to the reproduction position, and it is displayed stepwise manner in as simple a form as possible. The recording time duration and the reproduction position are illustrated, by using a particular recording time duration to be scheduled as a whole frame. According to this arrangement, a viewer can easily recognize the recording time duration and the reproducing time duration. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
