<p>PURPOSE: A video encoding method and system, a video decoding method and system, a video encoding program, and a video decoding program are provided to reduce a variation in a region form caused by a difference between encoding modes and improve compression encoding efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A video encoding method includes a step of deciding a encoding mode of a moving picture split into a plurality of regions, a step of deciding a region constitution unit for splitting the moving picture into the plurality of regions based on the encoding mode(S202), and a step of defining the regions based on the region constitution unit(S203). The method further includes a step of encoding region information about the defined regions(S204), a step of compressing pixel data included in the regions in order to generate compressed data based on the encoding mode(S205), and a step of outputting the encoding mode, region information and compressed data.</p> |
