The invention relates to a method for improving the feeding behavior of a weft yarn, especially a weft yarn made of synthetic filaments, during the production of fabrics on jet looms, particularly pneumatic jet looms. The aim of the inventive method is to limit the modification of the weft yarn, especially regarding a damaging change in the weft yarn structure, which results from a previously known intermingling process in the mixing tube of a main blow nozzle, to a length that will ultimately be part of the wasted weft yarn while dispensing with the holding process of the weft yarn by means of holding air. Said aim is achieved by the fact that the weft yarn (7) that remains in the main blow nozzle (1) is clamped by a clamping device (6) downstream of the injector (2) of the main blow nozzle (1) in the feeding direction (15) of the weft while the length of the weft yarn (7), which is introduced into the warp shed, is tied by closing the warp shed, whereupon the weft yarn (7) is subjected to an intermingling process along the length that remains between the clamping device (6) and the tie located at the feeding end as long as the angle of rotation of the main shaft of the loom lies within a predetermined range.
