PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner having such transfer performance as to cause neither fogging nor lowering of fine line reproducibility, also having such cleanability that it is easily cleaned, and giving a high-grade image with little surface stain by narrowing charge amount distribution or to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The toner consists at least of a resin and a colorant and has a volume average particle diameter of 3-8μm and a spindle form, and a material for protecting a toner surface is anchored to the surface.
