PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque detecting apparatus for accurately detecting input torque and preventing the occurrence of noise in its detection value. SOLUTION: A first cylindrical and movable electrode member 16 is fixed to an input shaft 1, and a second cylindrical and movable electrode member 17 is fixed to an output shaft 3. An electrode 18 of an electrode layer 16a of the first layer in the first movable electrode member 16 and an electrode 22 in the second movable electrode member 17 constitute an negative-side electrode of a first variable capacitor C1. An electrode 20 of an electrode layer 16b of the second layer in the first movable electrode member 16 and an electrode 22 in the second movable electrode member 17 constitute a negative-side electrode of a second variable capacitor C2. Both a first cylindrical fixed electrode 24 opposed to the electrode layer 16a of the first layer in the first cylindrical movable electrode member 16 and a second cylindrical fixed electrode 25 opposed to the electrode layer 16b of the second layer are fixed to the side of a casing D to impress a positive charge.
