The control method detects the movement of a person approaching the domestic appliance and compares the detected movement with a given movement pattern, for providing a signal for altering a readiness switching stage for operating elements (14) in accordance with an expected action, in dependence on the latter comparison and/or the actual status of the domestic appliance. An Independent claim for safety switching-in of an electric domestic appliance is also included.
