<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical material for antireflection capable of realizing a low refractive index which has not been conventionally obtained. <P>SOLUTION: Micropores in an independent bubble state are dispersed in a transparent material to make the refractive index of the obtained transparent material lower than the refractive index of the transparent material itself. Therefore, by an antireflection treatment, the refractive index of a treated surface layer can be brought closer to the refractive index of air than by a conventional method so that a high antireflective effect can be obtained.
