PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping material inserting device for a photoreceptor drum by which problems on the accurate insertion and grasp of damping material consisting of a hollow elastic member, the deformation at the time of inserting the damping material, and the positioning of the inserted damping material are solved. SOLUTION: The damping material inserting device is composed of a damping material grasping mechanism principally consisting of a rod for grasping the damping material consisting of the hollow elastic member, a photoreceptor drum holding mechanism principally consisting of a holder for holding the photoreceptor drum perpendicularly and an elevating/lowering device for moving the rod up and down, and the rod on whose outside the damping material is attached (set) is inserted from the above to the inside of the drum 1 held perpendicularly and only the rod is pulled out.
