PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a pseudo-leakage phenomenon caused by permeation of alkaline ions to a level causing practically no problems by a few number of components and without complicating a structure and an assembly process. SOLUTION: In the alkaline dry battery 10 sealed by a negative electrode terminal 21 and a gasket 31, an area S of an annular contact part 36 of the gasket 31 contacting a battery inner side face of the negative electrode terminal 21 is≤200 mm<SP>2</SP>, a skirt part 37 protruding toward a battery inner side is formed along the annular contact part, and by the skirt part 37, a shortest gasket length from the contact part 36 to the battery inner side is provided as the area S×0.013 mm or more.
