PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for a photosensitive lithographic printing plate capable of preventing so-called stop scumming, which is fine spot-like stainings generated on non-image parts when printing is started again after a printing machine is stopped for a while by registering during printing, a recess or the like, and a protective agent for a printing plate surface for the lithographic printing plate. SOLUTION: The processing method for the photosensitive lithographic printing plate is characterized in that after the photosensitive lithographic printing plate provided with a photosensitive layer of a photopolymerizing photosensitive resin composition comprising an addition polymerizable ethylenic double bond-containing monomer, a photopolymerization initiator, and a polymer binder on a metal substrate surface is image-exposed with light and is developed, it is treated with a water-solution comprising a nonionic surfactant in which the molecular weight of a saturated alkyl part in a hydrophobic group part in the molecule is 0-25% of the molecular weight of the hydrophobic group part.
