Dual component injection molding technique for large plastic components, comprises forming the large component, making mold space for a soft plastic sealing bead, and molding the latter

A process for producing a large plastic component (1) which has a foamed soft plastic section (2) attached to it, comprises applying the soft plastic section after the large component has been formed using a two component injection technique. After the large component has been formed, a space is made for the soft plastic sealing bead (D), which is injection molded at the same time using a foaming agent. The space is formed by adjusting the tool, e.g. by rotating one of the mould halves. The large component and the soft plastic sealing bead have the same base material, e.g. PP. The foaming agent is added to plastic granulate, and a thermoplastic elastomer is used as the soft plastic.
