PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste sorting apparatus the structure of which is made simple and compact and by which waste can continuously be sorted smoothly with high efficiency and to provide a self-traveling vehicle loaded with this apparatus. SOLUTION: This waste sorting apparatus (1) is provided with a cylindrical rotary drum (4) having a waste material throwing-in port (5) in the front and a discharge port (6) in the rear, one or more waste material feeding fins (12) each of which is extended aslant on the inner peripheral surface of the drum (4) at the prescribed angle with respect to the rotational axis and connected to the ports (5) and (6), one or more collecting hoppers (13) for collecting the waste material fed to the port (6) by the fins (12) and a water storage part (7) for storing water at the bottom of the drum (4) and suspending on the water surface the lightweight substance contained in the waste material thrown through the port (5). The heavy objects falling on the bottom of the drum (4) along the fins (12) is collected in the hoppers (13), conveyed in one direction by rotating the drum (4) and recovered rapidly with high accuracy.
