PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foldable mobile terminal device, capable of smoothly shifting to a state where an operation can be performed on the main operating unit, when various functions are selected, before opening the mobile terminal device and when the functions need the operations on the main operating unit. SOLUTION: The device has an opening/closing state detecting unit 64 for detecting the opening or closing state of first and second casings 32 and 34; and a control unit 62 for controlling the device so that a display screen corresponding to a specified item can be displayed on a display unit 11, when an opening operation is performed, after the specified item is selected from a selecting screen 72 displayed on the unit 11 by the operation of auxiliary operation units 42, 44, while the casings 32, 34 are in an closed state.
