PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element having sufficient luminance, excellent stability and durability, allowing its size to be increased, and easily manufacturable. SOLUTION: This organic electroluminescent element is composed of one or a plurality of organic compound layers caught between a pair of electrodes comprising an anode and a cathode at least one of which is transparent or translucent. The organic electroluminescent element is characterized by that at least one of the organic compound layers contains one or more kinds of charge transporting polyester comprising a repeating unit containing, as a partial structure, at least one kind selected from structures expressed by general formulas (I-1) and (I-2).
