1,260,215. Strip moulding. STANDARD PRODUCTS CO. 14 Feb., 1969 [16 Feb., 1968], No. 8143/69. Heading B6G. A strip structure comprises as shown in Fig. 1 an elongated body portion 12 formed of a vinyl polymer and having a normal flexibility such that it may be readily formed to a contour and a resilience such that it will depart from the formed contour when unrestrained, the body portion having a generally planar surface 18 and a contoured surface, and a thin metal strip 14 conforming to one of said surfaces across the entire cross-section of the strip 14, the metal strip being of a material which may be readily deformed but having sufficient strength to prevent the body portion from departing from the formed contour when the strip structure is wholly unrestrained. The vinyl body portion 12 may be plasticized polyvinyl chloride, chlorinated polyethylene. The metal foil 14 may be aluminium, stainless steel of thickness 0À00017- 0À0059 inch. The strip structure may be completed by a transparent vinyl covering 16 preferably of the same composition as body portion 12. The covering 16 and body portion 12 are secured to the metal foil by an adhesive. Surface 20 may be coated with an acrylic ink containing aluminium particles, and valleys 21 may be painted black. A simulated wood panel may be applied over the vinyl covering (Fig. 2, not shown). Figs. 3-6 (not shown) illustrate an end construction to give a finished appearance to the strip wherein areas of the vinyl portion of the strip are removed enabling the end of the strip to be bent without crumpling the metal foil. |
