PURPOSE: A method for controlling an electric rice cooker is provided to maximize the satisfaction of a user by making boiling after soaking possible and supplying various types of cooked rice to the user. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling an electric rice cooker comprises the steps of selecting a soaking function after putting the washed rice into a cooker(200), adjusting the soaking time based on the taste or a user(210), inputting a boiling key(220), deciding the selection of the soaking function by the user with response to the input of the soaking/boiling signals(230), and outputting the heating energy based on a first algorithm without the selection of the soaking function or outputting the heating energy based on a second algorithm with the selection of the soaking function(240,250).
