PURPOSE: A sensitive substance and a surface acoustic wave gas sensor by using the same are provided to detect material within a short period of time by coating the sensitive substance having superior sensitivity for dichloro-ethan on the surface acoustic wave gas sensor. CONSTITUTION: A surface acoustic wave gas sensor includes an input transformer(220), an output transformer(240), and a sensitive substance layer(300) formed between the input transformer(220) and the output transformer(240). The sensitive substance layer(300) is provided for detecting one of acetone, benzene, dichloro-ethan, ethanol, and toluene. The sensitive substance layer(300) is formed by coating CMP consisting of cellulose nitrate, dibutyl phthalate, a mixture of benzene and ethanol, and ethyl acetate and acetone mixed with mercaptoundecanoic acid onto a piezo-electric plate(100).
