摘要 PURPOSE: A coolant temperature controller of an automatic transmission vehicle and a method thereof are provided to improve the durability of an engine by optimizing the temperature of coolant through the control of a gear level and a damper clutch. CONSTITUTION: Information by driving corresponding to an optional target gear level according to a speed and a throttle opening is compared with a first approach condition of a high temperature prevention control. In satisfying the first approach condition, an engine RPM(Revolutions Per Minute) is reduced corresponding to a damper clutch. A coolant temperature is compared with a second approach condition of the high temperature prevention condition while agreeing with the damper clutch. Without satisfying the second approach condition, the satisfaction of a releasing condition of the first hot temperature prevention control is checked. Without satisfying the releasing condition, a time after the first control approach is checked. In passing a certain time or satisfying the second approach condition, an optional gear level is agreed to maintain the minimum engine RPM by applying a gear shift pattern for the second high temperature prevention control. A releasing condition is checked while the second high temperature prevention control. In satisfying the releasing condition, the high temperature prevention control is released and a shift is controlled by a normal shift pattern. Otherwise, the high temperature prevention control is maintained continuously. Thereby, a temperature of coolant is maintained stably.
