PURPOSE: A roll surface probe is provided to rapidly probe a roll surface and to precisely probe the roll surface by allowing the roll surface probe to freely move on the roll surface. CONSTITUTION: A roll surface probe(1) includes a head driving section(40), a roll surface probe section(70), a mark unit(80), and a roll surface cleaning unit(90). The head driving section(40) has a grinder for grinding a surface of a roll(14). A grinding roll is installed at one side of a moving bed and the roll(14) is positioned between a tail stock and a spindle. The head driving section(40) includes a moving head(30) installed at an end of a rotary arm(32), which is horizontally installed on a vertical supporter(20). The vertical supporter(20) has a lower vertical supporter(22) fixed to the moving bed and an upper vertical supporter(24) detachably attached to the upper vertical supporter(22).
