PURPOSE: A controller of a turbo lag for a turbo charger intercooler engine and a method thereof are provided to improve the initial accelerating defect when a vehicle installing a turbo charger engine is departed. CONSTITUTION: An engine control unit detects a starting status of a turbo charger intercooler engine by analyzing signals from a starting detecting unit. In starting the turbo charger intercooler engine, the engine control unit supplies opening signals of first and second intake passages to first and second intake passage opening units to supply intake air to a combustion chamber through first and second intake passages. The engine control unit analyzes signals through a pressure detecting unit and compares the sizes of intake pressures inside the first intake passage and the second intake passage. The engine control unit isolates the opening signal of the second intake passage to prevent the reverse movement toward the second intake passage when the intake pressure of the first intake passage is over the intake pressure of the second intake passage. In a reduction status of the turbo charger intercooler engine, the engine control unit isolates the opening signal of the first intake passage and supplies the intake air to the combustion chamber only through the second intake passage. In a re-acceleration or a departure status of the turbo charger intercooler engine, the engine control unit supplies the opening signal of the first intake passage and supplies the intake air to the combustion chamber only through the first intake passage. Thereby, the intake efficiency at an initial departure is increased. Moreover, the turbo lag of the turbo charger intercooler engine is improved.
