A speaker comprising; a substantially rectangular case having connection terminals at corners, a substantially rectangular voice coil, a diaphragm, and a substantially rectangular magnetic circuit. The speaker of the present invention is characterized in that a lead drawn out from a corner of the voice coil in proximity to one of the connection terminals extends to the vicinity of another corner on a shorter side of the voice coil, is bent, and then is connected to the connection terminal. The present invention can provide a speaker for use in portable equipment, such as a portable telephone, that can meet the requirements of space reduction without impairing characteristics, such as sound quality and sound pressure, and has excellent connection reliability of the terminal and reduced cost.
