PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a decrease in sensitivity to gas to be detected regardless of the mounting state of a gas sensor body and to improve stability in output. SOLUTION: A gas sensor 1 is provided in piping 9 at an outlet side at the oxygen pole side of a fuel cell extended in a vertical direction V. A cylindrical section 26 is connected to one end face in the thickness direction, namely a horizontal direction H, of a case 21 of the gas sensor 1 while the cylindrical section 26 can be rotated to the case 21. The inside of the cylindrical section 26 is formed as a gas detection chamber 27 and the detection element 31 and the temperature compensating element 32 are arranged inside the cylindrical section 26. At the cylindrical section 26, a weight 36 is provided at a proper position at the side of the temperature compensating element 32 in the arrangement direction of respective elements 31, 32 in a direction orthogonally crossing the thickness direction of the case 21, where the weight 36 is used for setting the center-of-gravity position of the cylindrical section 26 to a position being shifted to the side of the temperature compensating element 32 as compared with the side of the detection element 31.
