<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform the initialization of an image forming apparatus without relying on user's operation and to perform a proper initialization corresponding to a user without performing a special operation. <P>SOLUTION: When the set data renewing date stored in the ROM or the like of the controller of a color laser printer is an initial value "0", a printer capable of becoming the copy origin of set data is searched from the printer connected to a network (S100, S110) and the printer becoming the copy origin of the set data is selected from the searched printer (S120, S130). The set data is acquired from the ROM or the like of the selected printer to update the set data of the color laser printer (S140) and the set data updating date is superscribed on the basis of date having performed this initializing processing (S150).
