<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing in a molten metal bath which has excellent thermal shock resistance and strength and capable of following even high speed transportation of a steel plate with small sliding resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The bearing arranged to be dipped in the molten metallic bath is composed of a sintered compact mainly made up of silicon nitride, wherein the sintered compact contains ≤0.2 wt.% aluminum and ≤5.0 wt.% oxygen and has ≥60 W/(m×K) heat conductivity at room temperature. It is desirable for the sintered compact mainly made up of silicon nitride to have ≥700 MPa four-point bending strength at room temperature and a friction coefficient of ≤0.2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
