<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor emitting light by excitation with light of a prescribed wavelength and to provide a light-emitting diode equipped with a surrounding part containing the phosphor and surrounding an LED (light-emitting diode) chip and having good emission efficiency and emission intensity and a method for producing the phosphor. <P>SOLUTION: There are provided the LED chip 2 and an LED chip sealing part 5 made of a silicone resin and containing the phosphor obtained by weighing CaS, Ga<SB>2</SB>S<SB>3</SB>, EuS and Ce<SB>2</SB>S<SB>3</SB>so as to afford (1-x):a:x:y molar ratio (wherein, 0.001≤x≤0.2; 0.0001≤y≤0.02; and 0.5≤a≤5), mixing the CaS with Ga<SB>2</SB>S<SB>3</SB>, EuS and Ce<SB>2</SB>S<SB>3</SB>and baking the resultant mixture and surrounding the LED chip 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
