<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a consumer or the like to conveniently acquire the reliable source information of foodstuffs. <P>SOLUTION: In receiving a new registration request including the source information of foodstuffs from a dealer terminal 2 of a foodstuff dealer, this system 1 prepares codes for discriminating the foodstuffs, and stores the prepared codes, source information and code preparation date information in a database 13. Then, when a consumer or the like who has referred to a code attached to a foodstuff transmits an inquiry mail including the code by using a portable telephone 4 with a mail function from the store front of a retail store, a reply mail including the source information of the foodstuff and the code preparation date information is returned from the system 1 side.
