PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical type machining center for storing, supplying and machining a bar-like workpiece in a saved space without a feeder of a complicated constitution to push out the bar-like workpiece. SOLUTION: In this vertical type machining center 1, a spindle head 5 is capable of relatively moving in the orthogonal three axial directions to the bar-like 2, and a table 6 is disposed on the lower side. A vertical stocker 7 capable of storing the bar-like workpiece in the longitudinal direction is disposed in the vicinity of a machining area, a hand part 10 capable of grasping and releasing the bar-like workpiece is provided on the spindle head, and the spindle head is moved between the stocker and the table, whereby the hand part is caused to transport the bar-like workpiece and deliver the same to the stocker and a chuck 11 of the table.
