<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nitride phosphor having excellent heat resistance and emitting light in a yellow to a red region, and to provide a light-emitting device. <P>SOLUTION: The nitride phosphor is composed of a nitride fluorescent material 11b or 11c represented by L-M-N:R or L-M-O-N:R (wherein, L contains one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and Zn; M contains one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of C, Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Zr and Hf; N is nitrogen; O is oxygen; and R is a rare earth element) and a coating material 12, 12b, 12c, 12d or 12e containing an N element and coating the nitride fluorescent material. The coating material is a metal nitride material or a metal oxynitride material and has light-transmitting properties and forms a microcapsule or can be formed into a multilayered structure.
