<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical component that can suppress variation in transmission loss of an optical fiber coil due to hydrogen through simple processing and the optical component. <P>SOLUTION: When the optical component 1 having the optical fiber coil 2 is manufactured, the optical fiber coil 2 is stored in a coil storage case 4, which is filled with a filler. Then the filler is heated to become solid. Hydrogen is produced from the filler to place the optical fiber coil 2 in a hydrogen containing atmosphere. At this time, hydrogen molecules produced from the filler are diffused in the optical fiber 3 to react on grating defect atoms of an optical fiber 3. Eventually, grating defect atoms of the optical fiber 3 are nearly eliminated to make the optical fiber coil 2 inactive. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
