PURPOSE: A data driving apparatus and a data driving method for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) are provided to drive data lines by a time division method, thereby reducing the number of ICs and enhancing the display quality of image. CONSTITUTION: A shift register array(42) provides a sequential sampling signal. The first and second latch arrays(46,50) response the sampling signal, latch and then output pixel data(RGB). The first MUX(multiplex) array(54) performs a time division of the pixel data(RGB) outputted from the second latch array(50). The second MUX array(58) controls a progress path of the pixel data(RGB) from the first MUX array(54). A DAC array(62) converts the pixel data(RGB) from the second MUX array(58) into a pixel voltage signal. A buffer array(68) buffers the pixel voltage signal from the DAC array(62). The third MUX array(80) controls a progress path of the output from the buffer array(68). A DEMUX array(84) performs a time division of the pixel voltage signal outputted from the third MUX array(80) to data lines(D1 to D12).
