FIELD: cutting of thin laminate materials made out of glass or glass-ceramic and plastics. SUBSTANCE: the invention presents a method and a device for cutting of thin laminate materials made out of brittle material and plastics. The invention provides for heating up a plastic, at least, in the area dedicated for a line of cutting and so decreasing the plastic viscosity. Then a single cutting tool is placed on the plastic side of the laminate material with possibility to adjust the force of pressing. Maintaining a relative motion between the cutting tool and the laminate material along the dedicated cutting line they cut the plastic and simultaneously scratch the brittle material and so causing a mechanical stress. If necessary then the mechanical stress along the cutting line may be increased beyond the limit of the tensile strength of the scratched brittle material. The preferable field of application - slitting the thin laminates made out of glass or glass ceramic and plastics. The technical result of the invention is provision of cutting of laminates using a single operation with high accuracy of the fast cutting. EFFECT: the invention ensures fast cutting of laminates with high accuracy using a single operation. 35 cl, 1 dwg
