<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document feeder and an image forming device capable of keeping all units supported by a supporting frame in prescribed postures, when the automatic document feeder is closed. <P>SOLUTION: The automatic document feeder 10 is movably connected to an image reader by three hinges 20a, 20b and 20c, can be opened and closed with respect to the contact glass of the image reader, and feeds documents one by one to the reading position of the contact glass. The feeder is constituted so that hinge turning shafts f<SB>1</SB>of the hinges 20a, 20b and 20c are arranged on the same straight line, and the center G of gravity of the feeder 10 is on a perpendicular line extending from the shaft f<SB>1</SB>of the center hinge 20b.
