PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner which improves dust collecting performance by preventing a sudden decrease in suction power and realizes a reduction in the size. SOLUTION: The electric vacuum cleaner is equipped with a first dust separating part 6 having an inlet 9 to permit suction air containing dust to flow in and whirling the suction air and a second dust separating part 7 having an inlet 10 to permit the suction air flowing into the part 6 to flow inside. Since the inlet 10 of the part 7 is placed in a position which never opposes to the inlet 9 for the part 6, the sucked dust is separated in two steps, and the dust collecting performance free from clogging and the sudden decrease in the suction power is obtained.
