<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pre-whirl generator using a deformable air deflection vane adjacent to an inlet of a centrifugal air compressor. <P>SOLUTION: This deformable air deflection vane 46 can be mechanically deformed to generate positive, neutral or negative pre-whirl flow to the centrifugal compressor. One or a plurality of deformable thin vanes 46 are arranged in an intake channel 34 leading the inlet 18 of the compressor using the minimum number of parts. When the deformable air deflection vane 46 is at a non-deflection position, it does not deflect flowing-in air and does scarcely limit a flow or does not limit it at all. A rear fringe 62 of the deformable air deflection vane 46 is deflected in the lateral direction in either of positive and negative directions for the direction of flow in the intake channel 34 to achieve desired positive or negative pre-whirl flow for the centrifugal compressors 12 to 22. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
