<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon carbide/carbon composite material which has satisfactory slidability even in the air, and is also sinterable by non-pressurizing sintering. <P>SOLUTION: The silicon carbide/carbon composite material has a Rockwell hardness of 65 to 85 by an A scale, and a Vickers hardness of <2,000.
