<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the communication cost of an electronic device, such as an image forming apparatus, in case of abnormality. <P>SOLUTION: A controller CPU of the image forming apparatus 100 decides the type of generated SC and informs a management device 102 of the generated SC when the SC of the decided type is SC of a type A that an equipment user of the image forming apparatus 100 is unable to solve. When the SC of the decided type is SC of a type D that the equipment user of the image forming apparatus 100 can solve, an SC generation frequency counter for type D is made to count up; when the count value of the SC generation frequency counter for type D does not reach a specified value, a message indicating that the SC is being generated is displayed on a console panel and when the specified value is reached, the generated SC is reported to the management device 102. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
