A propulsion unit comprises a shaft 12 having a propeller 13 and a thrust bearing 15, and a hydrostatic motor 11 coupled to the shaft by a flexible element on the propeller side of the bearing 15. Swashplate motor 11 is connected via shaft 36, flexible coupling 38, sleeve 34, pin 49 and key 50 to the propeller 13 and shaft 12. Hydrostatic bearing 15 comprises a disc secured to the shaft between plate 14 and casting 20, which are supplied with pressurized oil. The unit is lifted by retraction of cylinders (56) to disengage pin 61 from hook 55, followed by extension of the cylinders. |
