[Also in Division B6] A shaped member is produced from a sheet 13 of semi-rigid material such as millboard by clamping it between a die 1 and a plate 5 having an aperture 9 closed by a punch 7 and packing rings 10, admitting air under pressure through a passage 11 to give a preform 12 to the sheet, then advancing the punch towards the mould with a cushion of air between it and the sheet, which air escapes between the sheet and the plate or through a blow-off valve, to force the sheet against the die surface. |
