PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method of an optical fiber optimized for the composition of an optical communication device which can maintain a high performance even when an environmental change such as a change of mechanical condition of vibrations etc. happens by performing the positioning regard to the light from LD at all times. SOLUTION: The processing method of the optical fiber comprises a resist applying process of applying a resist on a specified region containing at least all region of a core in a first end surface almost uniformly, an exposure/development process of exposing only the resist applied on the core in the first end surface by irradiating the resist with the light of specified wavelength through the optical fiber from a second end surface and, thereafter, developing the resist and a level difference forming process of forming the level difference between the core and a clad by using the resist remained in the exposure/development process.
