A distributor has an inner cylinder (2) to form an annular passage (4) for molten polymer entering the inlet (13). The cylinder has intersecting spiral grooves (24a) leading to the exit region (241). At this point, slightly downstream in the exit direction (E), is a drain hole (14) that can be closed off with a plug (3). The plug is a screw with a bolt head, its end being flush with the surface of the annular passage (4). It has a sealing ring and connects to a drainage channel. Also claimed is an extrusion head for extruding plastic pipes that is fitted with a melt distributor of this kind.
