LUMINAIRE FOR PLANT IRRADIATION AND METHOD

The luminaire for plant irradiation has a reflector (1) with faceted side reflectors (4) which are comparatively wide apart with their outer edges (41) and which bound a light emission window (2). The side reflectors each have a side step at a distance from the light emission window (2) so as to reduce their mutual distance stepwise. A faceted main reflector (5) is present at a distance from the side reflectors (4) opposite the light emission window (2). A lamp holder is present for accommodating an electric lamp L in a plane of symmetry entirely between the side reflectors (4). The luminaire can be used for irradiating plants from a great height and has a high light output ratio and a high homogeneity. The luminaire is used in the method.
